Every June in New York City the Tony Awards bring together Broadway’s biggest talents to celebrate the year’s most praiseworthy performances and productions. The star-studded affair is considered the highest US theater honor, and the annual ceremony draws out luminaries from both stage and screen for a night of tributes, performances, and, of course, Tony medallions.
The 2015 Tony Awards will take place on June 7 at Radio City Music Hall and will be hosted by Mary-Louise Parker and Bruce Willis, two Hollywood heavyweights who also make time for the theater — Louise Parker won a Tony in 2001 for her performance in Proof, and Willis makes his Broadway debut next season in the new play Misery. The annual event is organized by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, and is one of the Great White Way’s most beloved traditions.
Who will head home with a medallion this year? The nominees have just been announced — head over to BroadwayWorld.com for the full scoop, and to find out which two musicals scored a whopping 12 nominations each this year.
