SUPER BOWL XXXIX- 2005

New England Patriots vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Beer powerhouse Anheuser-Busch rarely disappoints with its Super Bowl commercials, and this year’s spot was no different. Their 30-second ad featured a timid skydiver who’s enticed to jump out of a plane with a six-pack of brews, only to find the pilot jumped ship first.

SUPER BOWL XL- 2006

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Seattle Seahawks

Bud Light struck gold again with its spot featuring a magic refrigerator and a not-so-bright man who installed a secret revolving wall in his kitchen to hide his stash of Bud Light from mooching friends. Unbeknownst to him, the revolving wall sends the fridge to his neighboring apartment where a group of elated beer fans praise the “magic fridge”.

SUPER BOWL XLI- 2007

Indianapolis Colts vs. Chicago Bears

In Budweiser’s hilarious “King Crab” spot, a congregation of crabs seize and idolize a cooler filled with beer.

SUPER BOWL XLII- 2008

New York Giants vs. New England Patriots

Budweiser came out on top (see a pattern yet?) with its Rocky-inspired ad that featured a dalmatian training a horse to greatness so it could pull the iconic Budweiser Clydesdale wagon.

SUPER BOWL XLIII- 2009

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Arizona Cardinals

Doritos finished Anheuser-Busch’s reign with a fan-made commercial depicting an office worker who uses his “crystal ball” (a snowglobe) to break the glass of a vending machine and make his wishes come true, a.k.a. snag a bag of Doritos.

SUPER BOWL XLIV- 2010

New Orleans Saints vs. Indianapolis Colts

Betty White getting tackled on a muddy football field — what’s not to love? Snickers hit the jackpot with their ad that featured the aging actress playing a bad game of touch-football. Turns out, it was actually just a dude who transforms back into himself after eating a Snickers.

SUPER BOWL XLV- 2011

Green Bay Packers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

This was the first year there was a tie in the ratings, with Doritos and Bud Light both coming out on top. Bud Light’s hilarious ad depicted a petsitter whose dogs throw a wild house party after discovering their owner left a stockpile of beer in the fridge. Doritos had canines on the mind too, featuring a fan-made clip of a hungry pug busting through a glass door to steal a bag of chips.

SUPER BOWL XLVI- 2012

New York Giants vs. New England Patriots

Doritos crushed the commercial game yet again with an uproarious fan-made ad that the creator made for just twenty dollars. In the spot, a man sees a dog burying his wife’s cat and then gets bribed by the clever canine with a bag of Doritos to keep mum.

SUPER BOWL XLVII- 2013

Baltimore Ravens vs. San Francisco 49ers

This one was a major tearjerker. Budweiser paid homage to their long relationship with Clydesdale horses with a touching ad about a trainer and his horse. As Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” plays, we see a montage of them interacting before the horse leaves his farm. Then the commercial jumps ahead in time and we see them reunite at a city parade in an emotional moment that even the most macho football fan found irresistible.

SUPER BOWL XLVIII- 2014

Seattle Seahawks vs. Denver Broncos

How do you make Budweiser’s famous horse-themed commercials even more enticing? Simple: you add a puppy. In this “aww”-worthy ad, a Clydesdale and a golden retriever pup become friends, cuteness ensues, and fans happily ate it up.
