Just because school is back in session, doesn’t mean that the fun has to end—especially when it comes to college sporting events.
At this time of year, universities heat up with activity, hosting action-packed games that get fans everywhere talking. We’ve even dedicated the entire month of September to the Ticketmaster #Sportstember promotion that’s unleashing sports fandom across the nation.
So in honor of #Sportstember, we asked Ticketmaster employees what college team colors run in their veins. We have to say, they had some pretty rad dedication to share—check it out.
College Sports Themed Weddings
“I’m a super fan of the Iowa State Cyclones. My husband and I were college sweethearts and met while going to school there. We cheered on the teams together as students and continue to do so today as alumni. We even had our engagement pictures taken on campus and the ISU fight song was played at our wedding reception as we entered the room as the new Mr. and Mrs. Dunn. Now, we have two children who have been going to events and wearing Cyclone gear since birth.” – Krista D.
“My husband and I met at college and, since then, we’ve watched every football and basketball game together. Our ultimate fan moment was our wedding. We had an Illini Chief groom’s cake (I surprised him with it), Illini cupcakes, orange and blue chocolates at every table and we were announced as husband and wife to the Illini Fight Song (that we made the band learn for us). We wanted to incorporate as much as we could because we owe it to that school for bringing us together. It’s our life.” – Heather C.
The Any Weather Fan
“I’m a die-hard Gator and proud father. I love sharing my passion for my school, the University of Florida, with my girls. We watch the mighty Gators on TV, and we try to make it to at least one game in The Swamp each year. In all kinds of weather, we all stick together…Go Gators!” – Kevin L.
“I have been a Trojan fan all my life…I even played for the Trojans in little league football. I guess you can say I’m a Trojan for life! Fight on!!!!” – Juan P.
The fan that was called by destiny
“When I was 12 years old my parents took me to my first college football game, South Carolina vs. East Carolina. It was the last place I wanted to spend my Saturday afternoon—I wasn’t even a sports fan. I never thought this one game would completely change the rest of my life and the path I was going to take. I fell in love with college football that day and have been hooked ever since. I eventually majored in Sport Management at the University of South Carolina and now work on Ticketmaster’s Sports Marketing team. Every year I count down the days to the kickoff of college football. There’s nothing like Southeastern Conference football and life doesn’t get any better than an October day with 80,000 of my closest friends watching my Gamecocks play!” – Laura M.
The Everywhere Fan (even the nursery)
“My favorite team ever is the Boise State Broncos. I have been watching them play since I was 6 years old. Whenever they are playing, no matter what’s going on, I try to stop what I’m doing and watch the game. If I can’t watch the game live, I record the game on the DVR and watch as soon as I can. I even receive alerts via text messages about the games they’re playing. I’m such a super fan of the Boise State Broncos that I decorated my first son’s nursery to match the teams color scheme.” – Steven B.
The proud alumnus
“As a UCLA alum, I’m a Bruin fan for life. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone at our office that doesn’t know what my favorite team is! I can’t wait for this year’s college football season; we’ve got our eye on the first CFB Playoff, and I think you’ll be hearing a lot about us this year! GO BRUINS!” – Elizabeth B.
