Many of us have moms who figuratively “rock”, but in the world of song and stage there are plenty of moms who quite literally rock. In honor of Mother’s Day we wanted to take some time to highlight superstar moms who light up both the stage as performers and their children’s eyes as mothers. Whether they’re bringing down the house or hanging with their kids, these awesome moms are the epitome of cool.

If you’re looking for something to get Mom this May 10, check out our Broadway and Broadway On Tour Guides to find a theater production that will knock her socks off. And if you’re feeling lucky, enter our Mother’s Day Flyaway Sweepstakes for a chance to win a trip for two to the 2015 Tony Awards® in New York City — Mom won’t ever forget it!

Without further ado, here are the moms who rock our world…

Beyonce
We dare you to try and find a fiercer mom than Beyonce. If daughter Blue Ivy is anything like Bey, she’ll be rocking the stage herself in just a few years. Here’s Beyonce killing it at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards, where she received the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award for the indelible mark she has made on pop culture:

Gwen Stefani
Super mom Gwen Stefani raises three kids with hubby Gavin Rossdale while also rocking No Doubt, her solo career, and her incredibly successful fashion line L.A.M.B. Not only is she a great mom, she’s a good daughter too – she gave a shout out to her mom last Mother’s Day with this adorable throwback photo:

happy mothers day Mamma =boy i landed in a good nest=blessed ❤️😘

Idina Menzel
Idina Menzel has been a Broadway icon for nearly two decades, and she shows no signs of slowing down. In addition to award-winning performances in productions like Rent, Wicked, and If/Then, Menzel has successfully crossed over into film (Frozen) and pop music — her 2014 album Holiday Wishes established her the first Tony-winning actress to crack the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. Menzel’s family-friendly roles as witches and princesses must be a lot of fun for her son Walker – he even gets to do her makeup backstage:

Wanda Sykes
Veteran comedian Wanda Sykes and her partner Alex gave birth to twins Lucas and Olivia in 2008, and we imagine there’s a lot of milk coming out of noses at the Sykes household these days. Not only is Sykes hilarious, she also lends her familiar voice to animated features including Rio and Ice Age: Continental Drift, which gives her kids serious playground bragging rights. In typical stand-up fashion, Sykes looks to her little ones for comedic inspiration:

Björk
Björk’s insanely creative, ever-evolving music and image are so arresting that sometimes people forget she’s also a mom. We’re sure kids Ísadóra Bjarkardóttir and Sindri Eldon get a kick out of watching her get dressed up in crazy outfits for her performances. Seriously, what could be better than getting tucked in with a lullaby by Björk? Here’s the Icelandic icon performing “Come to Me” from her latest album Vulnicura at Carnegie Hall back in March:

Shania Twain
Shania Twain’s son Eja is hardly a kid anymore – he’s 21, meaning he can enjoy a beer as he watches his mom tear up the stage during her upcoming Rock This Country farewell tour. Here’s Shania rocking the crowd last year at her critically acclaimed Vegas residency Shania: Still the One:

Audra McDonald
Audra McDonald is one of Broadway’s biggest stars as well as the leading lady in her daughter Zoe’s life. McDonald has won more Tony Awards than any other actor on the Great White Way (6 total), and it’s easy to see why — just watch her bring the house down in this hilarious clip from a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon:

Roseanne Barr
From her days as a budding stand-up star to her unforgettable tenure as a sitcom mom, Roseanne Barr has remained a comedy icon beloved for her no-nonsense humor. Her fictional TV family was a whole lot of fun to watch grow up, and we’re sure there were just as many laughs as she raised her five lucky kids in real life. Watch Roseanne rock the mic in this hilarious clip from her stand-up show Blonde and Bitchin’:

Cyndi Lauper
We can’t imagine a more fun mom than Cyndi Lauper. Her son Declyn is one lucky dude – he was even named after new wave hero and family friend Elvis Costello (Elvis’s first name is Delcyn). Having a rock star mom definitely has its perks – a few years ago Cyndi took Declyn to the set of The Voice, where he got to meet CeeLo Green, Adam Levine, and Christina Aguilera:

Cyndi is also a great daughter – she shouted out to her mom last Mother’s Day with this super cute TwitPic:

Candace Parker
Okay, okay, we know she doesn’t rock the stage, but WNBA superstar Candace Parker most definitely rocks the court. Parker was one of the first players to dunk during a WNBA game, a story that will certainly light up daughter Lailaa’s eyes when she’s old enough to understand how awesome her mom is. Check out the iconic moment below:
