Both weekends of Coachella have finally passed, but the hype behind Kendrick Lamar’s history-making DAMN. has long but subsided.
Since the album release, thousands of fans speculated a tour to back the album, and it didn’t take long for Kendrick to give the people what they wanted. On Monday morning, he took to Twitter to announce the North American run:

Joined by Travis Scott and D.R.A.M., the Compton rapper will be making 17 stops from July to August. The DAMN. Tour will kick off in Phoenix, Arizona on July 12 and close out in his hometown of Los Angeles on August 6 at the Staples Center.

DAMN. has earned nothing but praise from fans and critics alike. As Kendrick’s fourth full-length album release, the 14-track effort features a very honest Kendrick bearing his soul in the format of carefully composed paradoxes. Pitchfork’s Matthew Trammell writes that the album is “a widescreen masterpiece of rap, full of expensive beats, furious rhymes, and peerless storytelling about Kendrick’s destiny in America.” See some fan tweets about the release and tour:

After last week, Kendrick’s album cemented the title of the best-selling Billboard chart debut of 2017 by moving over 600,000 units in the first week, beating out the 500,000 units from Drake’s More Life. On top of that, every single song on the album landed in the Billboard Hot 100, even his intro skit “BLOOD.”

The overwhelming success of Kendrick’s album is not only great news for the MC, but for the world of hip-hop as he continues to raise the bar and push the envelopes of what it means to be a true modern artist.
Tickets for the DAMN. Tour will go on sale to the general public April 28 via Ticketmaster.
