This year marks 10 wild, successful years of HARD, the company that puts on some of the best dance music and hip hop events. We sat in on a screening of the 10 Year documentary, as well as a live Q&A with founder Gary Richards, hosted by Anna Lunoe.
Gary Richards, also known by his artist name Destructo, shared insights on the years that led up to HARD all the way through how he has built it into the production company it is today.
Gary prides himself on his talent for curation – both as an artist and as a event promoter. His DJ sets are filled with music that is so on the cutting edge Shazam doesn’t even recognize it! Similarly, Gary loves to book rising talent for HARD’s lineups, always searching for the next big artist.
A large part of the documentary and the Q&A was devoted to HARD’s Holy Ship and its “ShipFam”–the group of its loyal attendees. For three days, Holy Ship is a place for music lovers and artists to celebrate music together on a cruise ship from Miami to the Bahamas. Complete with stops at beautiful beaches for tropical DJ sets. Unlike many other events, it gives artists the chance to play two or three times, leaving abundant space for creativity and innovation in their sets.
Gary has put his heart and soul into each event he puts on to get HARD to where it is today, and he clearly loves connecting with attendees.
Celebrate a remarkable decade of music and events by heading out to HARD Summer this August 5th and 6th!
