Unforgettable Halloween Events for Kids in Los Angeles 2017

Minimaster Big Fun For Little Fans

Halloween’s spooky vibe shouldn’t keep you and your kids from getting into the spirit of the season. There’s plenty of age-appropriate events throughout October that are perfect for family fun. We’ve picked our favorite kid-friendly Halloween celebrations in Los Angeles so that every member of your family has a reason to get dressed up and costumed out — yes, even you parents.

1. Boo At the LA Zoo

Through October 31st
Creepy critters, pumpkin carving, puppet shows, and animal feedings that include — for brave and bigger kids — carcass feedings. Talk about gory! The LA Zoo takes their Halloween celebration seriously, offering special activities every day of the month, with extra events taking place on the weekends, and trick-or-treating going down on October 28-29. Come for the spooky fun, stay for the amazing animals.

2. Los Angeles Haunted Hayride

Through October 31st
Best for bigger kids, parental discretion advised
One of LA’s most well-known Halloween events, this one is best for adults and bigger kids. Guests take an actual tractor-pulled hayride through an eerily quiet Griffith Park at night, and the scares are legit. Back at home base there are creepy, haunted mazes, music, and typical fairground food. This one is best for teens and adults, but children 10 and up may be able to handle it — parents should decide what’s appropriate for their scare-loving kiddos.

3. “Halloween Spooktacular” by the Bob Barker Marionette Theater

Through November 5th
One of Los Angeles’ quirkiest, coolest spots for kids is the Bob Barker Marionette Theater. These talented puppeteers put on an amazing Halloween show for all ages in their intimate theater, and follow it up with treats and drinks in their Party Room immediately after the show. Plus it’s only an hour long, the perfect length for kids who’d rather squirm than sit.

4. Underwood Farms

Through October 31st, 9am-6pm
It’s a little bit of a drive, but Underwood Farms’ Fall Festival is worth the trip. The place is always a perfect family spot, but Halloween time is when they really go to town: wagon rides, a corn maze, hay pyramids, and great food. Plus their pumpkin patch is the best spot in town for fall family photos and picking the perfect gourd for carving.

5. Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch

Weekends, through October 29th
If you want to stay closer to Hollywood, Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch is a tried and true local favorite that’s good for Halloween fun and a celebrity sighting or two. Face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, a straw maze, and a massive pumpkin patch await you and your littles!
