It’s that time of year again: prom season! If you’re stressing out about what type of dress to wear or what tuxedo to pick, we’ve got your back. Since prom is all about music and dancing, we turned to some of our favorite music stars for prom style inspiration. These six red carpet celebrity outfits (spotted at recent ACM, iHeartRadio, and Grammy award shows) will inspire your prom look.

The Grammys…

Ellie Goulding

Last one 😁👍🏼

Ellie Goulding’s blush pink dress is perfect for prom. The color captures the spirit of springtime, while the embellishments in the back add a wow-factor. Add even more glitz to your look with silver jewelry.

An all-black ensemble is always a great idea for any formal event, but we love how Common turned heads with his subtle yet eye-catching black-and-white polka dotted shirt and lapel.

The ACM Awards…

Maren Morris

Why wear just one color when you can wear two? The two-toned look (especially this lavender and deep purple combo) is perfect for a spring prom.

Jake Owen

Celebrate your last hurrah before graduation with a suit in an unexpected color. It’ll look just as good on the dance floor as it did on the red carpet. Keep your shirt, shoes, and accessories neutral to balance out the look.

The iHeartRadio Music Awards…

Julianne Hough

Who said a prom dress has to be long? Break the rules with a mini dress instead. The silhouette makes it classic (which means you won’t cringe when you see your prom photos years later!), but the choker-like neckpiece keeps it modern.

Gang gang gang gang gang 🚨

If you want to standout but bright-colored tuxedos aren’t your thing, switch things up with a grey suit like Diplo. Ditch the bow tie too for a more laid-back prom look.
